Signal Viewer
The Signal Viewer panel is a real-time multi-channel oscilloscope. It displays scrolling waveforms from the acquisition stream in µV, using GPU-accelerated rendering for smooth display even at high channel counts.
View Modes
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| OVERLAY | All channels superimposed on a single axis. Good for comparing amplitude across channels. |
| MATRIX | Each channel in its own grid cell. Good for monitoring individual channels. |
| MEA 8×8 | Channels at physical electrode positions. Requires MEA Mapping. |
Controls
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| View mode | OVERLAY / MATRIX / MEA 8×8 toggle |
| Layout | Auto / 4×N / 6×N / 8×N / MEA 8×8 |
| Display mode | Scroll: the window moves with the signal. Sweep: a cursor writes over the previous pass, like an oscilloscope. |
| Decimation | Classic: keeps one sample out of N (a narrow spike can be missed). Min/Max: keeps the minimum and the maximum of each bucket, so spikes are always visible. |
| Window | Display window in samples: 1,000–50,000 in Scroll mode, up to 100,000 in Sweep mode (steps of 1,000) |
| Refresh | Update interval: 20–500 ms (steps of 10) |
| Y min / Y max | Amplitude range in µV. Click AUTO Y to auto-scale. |
| Channel selector | Per-channel enable checkbox and color picker |
| Performance | Green = on budget / Yellow = near limit / Red = overloaded |
Zooming on Several Channels
In MATRIX view, click a cell to open a zoom window on that channel (see below). To compare several channels in the same window, click ADD in the zoom window header: the matrix returns with the message Select the signals to zoom. Click cells to tick or untick channels (a counter shows how many are selected), then press OK; Cancel or Esc goes back to the zoom window with the previous selection. Leaving the MATRIX view closes the zoom.
Per-Channel Modal
Click any cell in MATRIX view to open the per-channel modal:
- Time view — waveform oscilloscope
- FFT view — frequency spectrum (1k, 2k, 4k, 8k, 16k sample FFT)
- Dual frequency band slider for highlighting frequency ranges
Tips
- Start with MATRIX view to identify active channels, then switch to MEA 8×8 for spatial context.
- If the performance indicator turns red, reduce the window size or disable unused channels.
- Use AUTO Y after changing channels or electrode configurations to re-scale the display.
