Protocol Reference
This section documents how to communicate with the HMCLS system over the network. The device exposes several UDP ports: a text command interface for scripting and automation, a binary data stream for neural recordings, and a dedicated channel used by the Studio visual programming environment.
UDP Ports
| Port | Direction | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| 55152 | PC → Device | Text commands |
| 55153 | Device → PC | Command replies, data lines and events |
| 55151 | Device → PC | Binary neural data stream |
| 5000 | PC ↔ Device | Studio program upload and control |
Communication Channels
Text commands (ports 55152 / 55153) — Send plain ASCII commands to the device and read structured replies (OK / ERR) and events (EVT). Suitable for scripting, automation and direct control from Python or any UDP-capable tool.
Data stream (port 55151) — Binary datagrams with the neural samples, sent to the PC that owns the board.
Studio visual programming (port 5000) — Used by the HMCLS Studio to upload graphical programs and control their execution. Refer to the Studio documentation for details.
